Protecting the Tradition of Excellence

We all expect our school district to provide a quality education for our children, to be financially responsible with our tax dollars, and to support students, parents, & teachers.  These common sense ideas are the foundation for a unified community and serve as an example for our children.

Carroll ISD has an amazing School Board that has shown strength by making tough decisions in a challenging environment.  Recent improvements in education policies and standards, the focus on finances, and the leadership role that CISD has embraced throughout Texas all point to a strong Board that is clearly embracing opportunities to drive our children toward excellence.

A core part of my professional life as a healthcare Chief Operating Officer is my responsibility for care, compliance, and budgets.  Like our schools, medical businesses must balance their mission to provide care with the need for sustainable financial performance and the need to comply with legal requirements.  I’ve proven my ability to create optimal solutions in areas very similar to what CISD faces today.  An increased focus on these areas will help the CISD Board improve compliance with governing requirements, better communicate with parents and teachers, and instill the highest standards of transparency in government.

Due to Carroll ISD’s success, we have the responsibility to be the example for every School Board in Texas and now is our chance to raise our standards even further.  By combining our high expectations, strong community involvement, and now an unsurpassed ability to cleanly execute in a complex administrative environment, we will continue to Protect the Tradition of excellence in CISD for future generations.

Mandy’s professional life has also given her the ability to combine service and performance.  Mandy currently serves as the Chief Operations Officer of a Texas-based home health company responsible for policy, finance, and performance goals while ensuring exceptional care for patients throughout Texas.  There are many parallels between the medical field and service on the CISD School Board.  Mandy’s responsibilities for hiring and talent retention in a dynamic industry will enable her to evaluate challenges for CISD teachers and staff.  Also, leaders in both areas must balance performance with financial requirements.  Whether it’s standardized tests or healthcare ratings, we must balance the desire for maximum performance with long-term financial impacts.  Another parallel is the need to understand how compliance can encourage transparency in a regulated environment by ensuring decisions are evaluated objectively and enacted with maximum transparency.  Mandy’s past success in these professional areas points to future success on the CISD School Board.

The Carroll ISD School Board represents our community in a special way since it directly impacts a large portion of our children’s lives.  Mandy sets an example of common-sense leadership combined with an unstoppable drive to achieve results.  She clearly understands that while family always comes first, a community can be elevated by embracing strong, genuine humility and unifying around our common goals.

Meet Mandy

Miranda “Mandy” Reece and her family joined the Dragon community 10 years ago when she finished her Registered Nurse degree and her husband, Matt, finished his decade-long commitment to the US Air Force.  But it wasn’t until her sons entered CISD that Mandy really started to see how special this community is.

Mandy has a rare combination of humility and strength.  She balances high standards with empathy and recognizes that communities are made up of individuals with lives that should be understood rather than criticized.  Mandy has proven that the best results are achieved when we listen, gather facts, and are transparent with those around us.

Service is in Mandy’s nature both personally and professionally.  The lives of her four children – two grown daughters, and two sons currently in CISD – have created opportunities that allow her to dedicate time and energy to improving the lives of others.  Southlake shares her strong sense of community and this led to her being asked to serve on the Dragon Youth Baseball Board, help build the DYB “Ballpark Club”, and support Southlake’s YoungLife chapter.
